In 1940, the Synthetic Plastic Company embarked on a new business venture, recording and selling music geared toward a much younger audience, children in fact. Based out of Newark, New Jersey, SPC had created Peter Pan Records which became known for it's series of "book-and-record sets", illustrated story books that were accompanied by music and narration when read along with the vinyl record.
Power Records, an imprint of Peter Pan Records from the 70's, continued in the same vein with book-and-records releases, however, Power Records featured characters licensed from DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and other popular television shows from the time [Kojak, The Six Million Dollar Man, Star Trek].
The book-and-record sets often featured original comic books stories and art along with an extended-play 7" record of the story. LPs were also produced featuring the recorded stories, often re-released, without illustrations.
Below is a compiled discography of Power Records releases accompanied by album cover art and MP3 playlists as Earth Prime has collected them. Earth Prime will only post what it has recorded and/or scanned itself, other material will be cited.
